Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is the malignant(abnormal,uncontrolled) growth of the external surface or epithelial layer of the skin(skin cells).These abnormal cells are capable of invading and destroying other associated skin cells.Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers,each year there are more new cases of skin cancer than the combined incidence of cancers of the breast, prostate, lung and colon.

Although anyone can get skin cancer, high incidence has been noted in individuals with freckles, light hair, and light complexion and who work outside and have fair skin that freckles easily and often those with red or blond hair or light-colored eyes;in people with darker skin, the palms, soles, mucous membranes, and other areas of light pigmentation are the most common sites for Skin Cancer.

Skin Cancer mostly affects skin of the face, and other most common sites are the ears, the backs of the hands, the shoulders, and the arms. It is most frequent in both sexes, and prevalent in people over the age of 40.
